PROJECT DAY
Project Day is at the centre
of each Lions unit of study.
Every term, students work toward a meaningful project that gives their learning purpose.
The project changes depending on the focus of the unit, but the aim remains the same: students create something thoughtful, original and connected to what they are learning. Project Day gives students time to explore ideas, make decisions, solve problems, collaborate, create and refine their work. It is often where the learning becomes most visible, because students are not just completing activities; they are building toward something.
Learning That Comes Together
Across the week, students engage in learning from different subject areas. Project Day is where many of those skills connect.
For example, when students created a MasterClass-style how-to video series, they also explored instructional and explanatory writing. This was not a separate task; it was part of learning how to communicate clearly, explain a process and create an engaging final product.
In other terms, students have created podcast episodes, worked through hands-on design and technology projects, built creative worlds, prepared presentations and developed original ideas from the ground up.
Each project is designed to help students use their learning in a purposeful way.

BENEFITS OF PROJECT DAYS
What Students Develop
Across the week, students engage in learning from different subject areas. Project Day is where many of those skills connect.
Through Project Day, students build skills in:
– planning and organisation
– research and questioning
– creative thinking
– problem-solving
– communication
– collaboration
– design thinking
– presentation
– reflection and refinement
They also learn how to stay with a project over time, make changes, respond to feedback and take pride in what they create.
Joining for Project Day
While students benefit from attending Lions across the full week, some families choose to join us specifically for Project Day.
These students may not take part in all the connected learning from other subjects, but they can still participate meaningfully in the project itself. They are supported to contribute ideas, build skills and create alongside the group.
Project Day can be a great option for students who are looking for a creative, social and purposeful learning experience within a smaller part of the Lions week.
Why Project Day Matters
At Lions, projects are not an extra activity added on at the end.
They are central to the way we learn.
Project Day gives students a reason to think deeply, communicate clearly, solve problems, work with others and bring their ideas to life. It helps students experience learning as something active, connected and meaningful.
